The ideal place for my art would be an album cover of a beloved band.
Here I have adapted recent paintings to the square format of vinyl record sleeves, and re-imagined them as the covers for some of the classic albums of my teenage years. I kept the original font and placement of the band name and album title.
Two, or even three, decades later, this music still sounds so good to me.

L.E. Kim was born in Seoul, Korea, and lives and works in Los Angeles. She received her M.F.A from the California Institute of the Arts in 2009, and has exhibited at Klowden Mann and in group exhibitions in Los Angeles and New York. Her solo exhibition, First Paintings, is currently on view at Klowden Mann in Culver City, from July 23 to August 20.
